the scary

hi hi a while ago (probably like. june 2023?) i watched a movie on some piracy site. Wanted to re-watch it a few days ago, but the site was taken down and it must have been a pretty small movie since I can't find it anywhere. Read About My Vague Memories Boy

movie was called Ouroboros if i remember correctly. felt like it was from the 70s or 80s. it was a horror movie too (hence the graphics on this page!)

the movie started out with a guy (main character, looks to be in his late 20s?) whose name i think was pierce standing in his apartment. the room looked awful and was filled with bugs which i remember thinking was kind of funny. there were just so many bugs in that place. i think they probably really did film it in some old abandoned apartment complex. after some time he gets in his car to drive somewhere.

he reaches a town and he either stops his car on purpose or it breaks down. the rest of the film takes place in this weird frozen over town. and there's also a creature killing people..... wow, just like in The Thing! The creature in this scary town was a chimera with a human face and its design was so sick.... if i ever find a photo i'll put it here. the creature creation department did a good job.

the other characters were either hostile or acted really strange towards pierce and he ended up sleeping in some shack. all of this movie's dialogue was so weird i couldn't really understand it. I hope i can find a transcript of this movie somewhere, i'm sure it would be really fun to read.

The priest(??might have been just some guy) got maimed and killed and his body was left in the middle of town. They ripped him in half! hot dog style! i even drew a diagram. Whoever did the practical design knew what they were doing cause I remember the gore looking pretty good. that department was also probably like... two guys since this movie seems to have such a small release, impressive!

There was some scene in a confessional but that's all I remember. If you've ever seen House 1977 the editing was weird and disjointed like in that movie
(but less silly i guess)

don't take my word for this one because i am Pretty Bad at picking up romantic subtext but i think??? the protagonist had some gay thing going on with his friend(?) not sure how amicable they were actually.
said friend froze to death later in the movie.

okay one more thing, i've been holding off talking about i understand it the least. there was some backstory with one of the characters, a building was on fire, and a few people died. The character who survived got burned at the stake witch trial style near the end of the movie. these were also some pretty good practical effects if memory serves.
